Learn more about working with us one on one!
During your initial session...
During your 90 minute initial assessment, we discuss all the outcomes we hope to have you feel comfortable reaching before you stop working with us, so you can go on your own and maintain your results for life. There IS a point where you fire us! If you can’t, we aren’t doing our job!
You and your dietitian will also spend this time getting to know each other. You’ll go over your day to day habits, eating patterns, and medical history. We even like to look at what you’ve tried in the past to learn more about what worked and didn’t work for your body.
In this first session, we like to provide some education based on your underlying medical condition and/or goals. However, the majority of the session (and the time your dietitian spends before and after it) is designed to gather the things we need to get a grasp on your current goals/conditions, establish why they exist and how we can effectively work as a team to resolve/manage them and maintain the outcomes you want forever.
During the time, we aim to set short-term and long-term goals based on your personal dietary needs to ensure we have a successful game plan.
Our goal working as a team is to get you to reach progress without ever feeling like you have to jump back on the wagon again. We meet you where you’re at and get rolling slowly, but surely. Before you know it, you’ve implemented things that make you feel like a new person without needing to become one!
Here’s the best part, most of the time, your health insurance will cover your entire visit, and our follow ups too!
If your insurance will not cover your nutrition visit or you prefer to go the self pay route, we can explain what the investment is to work with a dietitian. We have made our service as affordable as we can to ensure you make progress no matter what the circumstance is.
We also offers discounted packages for follow-up sessions depending on the number of sessions you purchase!
during your follow ups...
At the end of our first visit, we schedule our next follow up, and set some small, achievable goals that are going to build your confidence and get you excited to remain on this journey. Everyone’s nutritional situation is individualized here, and without meeting and learning who you are, it is difficult to truly determine how many follow-up visits you may require, and how frequent they occur. We do know that our most successful clients have worked with one of us for at least 6-9 months. We will definitely see results before that, but to keep them, we need to get deep and fit them into your life, not the other way around.
Follow-up visits have unlimited potential. We mainly use them to review your progress, address your questions and break through any obstacles you are struggling with. Below are a handful (and there are hundreds!) of examples of what might be covered in a follow-up session:
For someone who has obesity and lost 40 pounds, we may spend our time reassessing your metabolism and how it has changed. We may find we can start increasing calories and still lose more weight to get to your final goal. We go over why this happens so you understand the science behind every change you make.
For an athlete, we may focus on the timing of your nutrition around an intense workout, a long run, or a recovery weekend. Your nutrition will depend on a number of things including but not limited to your body composition, height, weight, sport or form of exercise, and most importantly, your goal.
For someone trying to lose the last 10-15 pounds and stalling out, time we spend will be used to go deep into the daily habits like sleep, stress management, recovery and quality of your nutrition. At this point you are so close to where you want to be, so we will make sure we work hard to bridge that gap!
For someone with IBS, we could utilize a session together to break down what a low FODMAP diet looks like, and whether or not it makes sense for a period of time in your life. Another session following it could take place going over a list of your food preferences and creating a customized meal plan.
For a woman with PCOS, sharing more information about your medical history could be a huge factor for success. We go in depth to make sure we are focusing on hormone balance and all the different focal points that we will learn together during the journey.
As our relationship builds, so does the information provided in the sessions. We love growing together and making changes that last. There are certain things we want every person we work with to feel comfortable doing and you can read more about them here.
